A rhythmic, read-aloud (and rather silly) burrow into the unseen world of the wombat.

This hilarious book of wordplay finds ways to illustrate distortions of the word "Wombat" -- from "twobat" (a picture of two wombats), to "splatbat" (a wombat splattered on the page), to "oldbat" (an old wombat), and everything in between. Sometimes the images recur and interact with one another -- like the image for "Foebat" chasing the image for "Friendbat" off the page as an illustration for "runbat" and "gonebat". After all the nonsense, our wombat finds another wombat and makes a very cute family.
The core concept (which has been expanded in Wombat) will be recognisable to those who enjoyed Philip Bunting's first book, Mopoke (2017).
The earthy and neutral tones of the colour palette, hues of orange, yellow, brown and black, evoke the wombat's natural habitat. A fun experience and a great way to start learning about compound words, adjectives, and verbs.
